I’m happy to offer for sale this modern quilt entitled Modern Anthology.
An anthology is a story and a closer look at the blue fabric strips tells a bit of the story of the creation of the world – from the seas to the heavens, the fish to the stars. This quilt is approximately 59”x74” which is a perfect size for snuggling up with on the couch. (I have extensively field tested this size of quilt myself.)
The fabric, all high quality quilting cotton, was purchased at Keep Me In Stitches quilt store in Appleton, as was the pattern. Keep Me In Stitches was not the quilt store that started it all for me but it is certainly one of my favorites with a fresh selection of modern fabrics and fashion forward samples and patterns.
The backing fabric is by In The Beginning fabrics and is called Chickadee Cornflower – another reference to the creation anthology. This same fabric is also highlighted as the accent in the binding.
I machine quilted this quilt using a Handi Quilter long arm quilting machine that I rented from The Quilting Connection in New London. The pantograph design is called Curli Q. I used Legacy premier quilt batting in an 80/20 cotton/poly blend. I washed the quilt in cold water and tumble dried it on low. It has a beautiful soft and crinkly feel typical of well-loved and antique quilts.
Here are some close-ups.

Other business: Mr. Left Brain has added the two most popular blog aggregators to the right pane of this blog – Bloglovin’ and Feedly. Formally known as RSS aggregators or newsreaders, these two applications will monitor sites that you subscribe to (tell them to watch) and will pull in updates and new stories that appear on those sites. This makes your time spent reading Internet material much more efficient. Feedly wins praise for the personalization it allows. It allows four main styles of views, ranging from a minimalist list of articles for each source, or an eye pleasing magazine format, which pulls pictures from your feeds and includes them with a short summary of each story or post. Bloglovin is a sophisticated newsreader with a very clean and intuitive design but does not allow for much customization. Both are available as free apps for your computer, tablet or Apple or Android mobile device.
If you do not use a news feed aggregator, you can also follow this blog by entering your e-mail address. You will receive an e-mail message when a new post is made.
- The food you cook at home gets boring when you always eat at home. The ancillary to that is food eaten out gets boring when you eat out too frequently. Balance is good.
- I am super excited to have our kids visit us for Thanksgiving. One is coming home on Tuesday and the other late Wednesday. And my family is coming Thursday for our traditional Thanksgiving celebration. Expectations are high for a guest appearance of idyllic. Probably asking for too much. :P
